Oles Honchar (1918 - 1995), writer, literary critic, social activist. Was born in the village Lomivka (now - neighbourhood of the city Dnipro). As a teenager he survived the Holodomor thanks to his grandmother. He became a famous writer. His story about the famine "Stokozove pole" (1936) were published and subsequently "corrected" beyond recognition.
