Vasyl Stus (1938-1985) - poet and political prisoner of the Soviet regime.
After a public speech against the arrests of Ukrainian intellectuals began years of Soviet prisons and camps for Stus. He spent 14 years in prison. After that he is remembered not only as a writer, translator and literary critic, but as the voice of conscience in the world shattered notions of honor, truth and honesty.
