Belarusian security forces dispersed a memorial to Roman Bondarenko, a 31-year-old Minsk resident who was beaten to death earlier this week, on the so-called "Square of Change" in Minsk.
According to human rights activists from the Vesna Center, the number of detainees reached more than 580.
Protests in Belarus began on August 9, immediately after the presidential election. Protesters consider the election rigged. The Central Election Commission of Belarus has announced the winner of Alexander Lukashenko, who has ruled the country since 1994. (Video Reuters)
